About Mfulawamanzi Laboratory Centre

Transforming Industries with Dedication and Expertise

Mfulawamanzi Laboratory Centre is a fully black-owned and woman-run laboratory specializing in water and coal testing. Located in the Mpumalanga province, we have established a strong footprint and a remarkable growth trajectory. Founded in 2012.

Mpumalanga’s first black-woman-owned, SANAS-accredited laboratory

Advancing quality, empowering professionals, and shaping the future of water management and coal analysis.

Mfulawamanzi traces its roots to Mpumalanga, a region historically underserved but rich in potential. As the first black-owned laboratory in the province, Mfulawamanzi pioneered opportunities for black professionals in water and coal industries. The name itself, meaning “A river of water,” embodies our commitment to excellence and national impact.

Driven by a vision of African excellence, Mfulawamanzi prioritizes rigorous processes and continuous improvement to achieve sustainable excellence. We invest in developing emerging water professionals through mentorship and coaching, ensuring they learn from experienced technicians to articulate confidently in their field.

In 2022, Mfulawamanzi underwent strategic restructuring, expanding services beyond water analysis to encompass water professional and coal services. With a shift to being 100% black-woman-owned, we continue to lead in diversity and innovation.

Located in Middelburg, our state-of-the-art laboratory, acquired from BHP Billiton, is tailored for both coal and water analyses. As the first wholly black-owned company with a SANAS Accredited Laboratory in both sectors, we uphold the highest quality standards, contributing to regional employment and scientific advancement.

Remarkably, there’s no accredited institution in Mpumalanga for training water professionals, underscoring the critical role Mfulawamanzi plays in filling this gap and shaping the future of water management and analysis in the region.
